All about our different leathers

To make beautiful shoes, you need good quality leather. This is why we buy from the best French tanneries (Carriat, Degermann, Garat, Fortier Beaulieu). Then, the cutter of the Atelier comes into play: he selects the best parts of the skins, the most regular.

Full grain leathers

cuir gras naturel

cuir gras chocolat
Gras Chocolat

This is an aged bovine leather. From the first steps, it will have a patina depending on the experience of the shoe. Very easy to maintain (greasing), it will remain supple over time.

Gras noir

This is a double-tanned bovine leather from the Alsatian tannery Degermann. It perfectly embodies the beauty, suppleness and resistance of full grain leather. It can be either greased if you wish to keep it “matt” (vegetable grease), or maintained with black shoe polish if you wish to make it shine a little.

cuir marron satine
Marron satiné

This very beautiful Pull up leather has a slight satin finish that catches the light very well. As the name suggests, it is by pulling on it that Pull up leather reveals its unique behaviour. The area under tension takes on a slightly lighter colour than the rest. It will improve with age if it is regularly maintained, especially with our “Cognac colour ” beeswax specially designed for this leather.

cuir vert olive
Vert Olive

Leather used exclusively for the Vignemale model. This is a leather that is not very supple and has been traditionally used to make mountain boots for two generations. The double tanning (mineral and vegetable) gives it increased durability. It is particularly suitable for intensive daily use for work and/or hiking.

Nubuck leathers

Nubuk écorce

This Bull brown nubuck leather is supplied to us by the Basque tannery Rémy Carriat.  This Taurillon Gochoki (“Soft” in Basque) is a Nubuck with a velvety grain. It is made by lightly sanding the grain of our leathers. The 3M treatment carried out in full bath during the dyeing process allows the Gochoki to have a high performance resistance to water and stains. It is a soft and silky article, its touch is incomparable.

Nubuk vert

This very robust nubuc green leather has been specially developed to resist water (water-repellent treatment which allows a pearl effect). It is also very easy to maintain and can be adapted to both our city and mountain models.
